I have had the good fortune to have met many wonderful teachers in my life and now that I am in my middle years,
I have discovered which things help me the most in my life. I like to share the collection of self-care tools
I have gathered over the years and let people find what works best for them.
There are so many ways in which
we can affirm and support vibrant health and optimum happiness. Becoming aware of the energy in the body and
communicating with it is a gift of self-empowerment. In my workshops we play with chakras and meridians through
energy awareness and movement, bio-kinesiology and left-brain/right-brain integration. We journey inward and
outward through journaling, yoga, dance, painting, guided meditation and chanting. In my Energy Movement classes
we open and clear our energy channels so that we can access more of our own natural energy.
I am currently residing in Victoria and like to spend a lot of my time on Hornby Island.

The instructor, Ed Hoeppner, has studied T'ai Chi for over 30 years, having had many teachers. He has
instructed many students, both in weekly classes, and weekend and week long workshops. It has been interesting
to notice over the years of teaching that numerous students, after only a short time of study, have reported
beneficial changes in other areas of activity such as: playing music, snow boarding, mountain biking,
unicycling, horse back riding, etc. Thus, it seems from observation, that learning is easily assimilated
and absorbed within the context of activities one is already engaged in.
From this feedback from past students he has decided to offer the teachings of T'ai Chi in a way that can
be applied across disciplines. The movements of the T'ai Chi Chuan form are not the T'ai Chi. They are but
the context within which to learn T'ai Chi, as a moving meditation and a martial art. The context can be
any art and can be any movements or activity. Yoga seems a natural medium through which to absorb the principles.

Lynn Crawford, LCSW has been a student of Buddhism for over 25 years, as well as a Jungian-oriented
psychotherapist. She lives in San Francisco, and spends part of her summers on Hornby. She works with
Ken McLeod in the Teacher Development Program of Unfettered Mind, a Buddhist service organization that
provides instruction, training programs, and guidance in Buddhist methods for being awake and present.
She has also trained in shamanic and healing practices. Her interest in Buddhism, healing and sacred
art have taken her on pilgrimages throughout Nepal, India, and Bhutan, as well as stranger places
like the United States. She is also a hypnotherapist, thangka painter and writer.
One of the teachings which has meant the most to her in her own journey is this quote from the Buddha:
Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations.
Do not believe in anything because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason, and is
conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.

Matthew Kocel is a throat singer, sound healer, visionary musician, and healing arts practitioner driven by his mission of opening direct access to the unified field through sacred sound.
The ancient sages from around the world taught what modern science has only recently revealed - everything in the universe, from the subatomic realm to celestial bodies, is in a constant state of vibration. Everything is moving, vibrating, creating sound whether we hear it or not.
Matthew's unique musical chanting fuses two, three, or more notes at the same time, creating a profoundly moving experience as he blends his voice with crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, harmonium, conch shell and more.
